An overview of graduation courses in medical field.


                             Today I would like to introduce you some of the graduation courses in medical field,for which,few years back admission was given on the basis of the rank in Kerala Medical Entrance.Now admission to these graduation courses are given only on the basis of marks in plus two exam only.
The courses are
1.BSc Nursing
2.BSc Perfusion Technology
3.BSc MLT (Medical lab Technology)
4.BSc Optometry
5.BPT (Physiotherapy)
6.BASLP(Audiology and Speech language Pathology
7.BCVT(Cardio Vascular Technology)
8.B Pharm(Pharmacy)
9.Pharm.D(Doctor of Pharmacy)
The duration of the Pharm.D course is 6 yers.Of all other courses the duration is 4 years each.For Physiotherapy six months and for Nursing courses in government colleges twelve months internship
Is made compulsory.For admission to these courses,marks obtained in plus two subjects will be normalised on the basis of a specified criteria and calculated.

Bsc Nursing

                                             Nursing has emerged as the key areas giving employment. Graduate nurses are in demand than diploma holders.The B. Sc. (Nursing) curriculum covers all aspects of medical care, including psychological counselling and sociology. The syllabus includes an exhaustive study of Anatomy, Biotechnology, Nutrition, Community health management, surgical procedure etc.  A BSc. (Nursing) graduate has plenty of opportunities to build a rewarding career. The most popular choice is take up job as a staff nurse at a hospital. Other options include, taking up teaching positions as clinical tutor.For those who wish to go abroad, one has to quality in the IELTS and take an online CGFNS test. An English proficiency examination like IELTS/TOEFL with better score is essential for career abroad.  Moreover nursing diploma holders have to complete CGFNS examination. CGFNS-Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is an internationally recognized agency involved in assessing the education, registration and licensing of nurses and doctors. CGFNS is regularly conducting CGFNS qualifying examination for recruiting nurses abroad. It will assess the nursing knowledge and English proficiency in three stages. In the first stage, CGFNS will assess whether the General nursing course is accredited or not. In the second stage nursing knowledge will be assessed through two nursing proficiency tests. (Part I & part II). In the third phase English proficiency will be assessed either through TOEFL/ IELTS. BSc Nursing graduates have to write only CGFNS English proficiency test. To succeed in a demanding profession like nursing, students should learn proper communication, inter-personal skills and have an emotionally balanced nature to cope with the demand of the profession.
