Perfusion Technology

         Perfusion Technology is a bio science course which involves the study of pathology,physiology and equipment used in supporting the functioning of  heart and lungs during medical treatment. The Perfusion technologist have to operate the heart-lung machine as per the advice of the doctors treating the patient. A Perfusion technologist  is a health professional who operates the heart-lung machine during cardiac surgery and other surgeries that require cardiopulmonary bypass. His main duty is to support the physiological and metabolic needs of the cardiac surgical patient when the patient’s heart malfunctions.A perfusion technologists has good opportunities in  health care services and  multi-speciality hospitals. 

Medical Lab Technology(MLT)

         Now medical field has developed a lot.New diseases are diagnosed each day and also the medicine for curing the disease is also found out with much effort.The number of hospitals are increasing day by day,so also the number of  patients .Diagnosing the right disease at the right time is the most crucial thing.This is where the role of a Medical lab technologist is relevant. Bsc Nursing

                                             Nursing has emerged as the key areas giving employment. Graduate nurses are in demand than diploma holders.The B. Sc. Bachelor of Science-Maths

Maths

                 After completing plus two in Science you can choose graduation in Maths .If you have interest in numbers, equations, solving problems with formulas,calculus etc. After graduation you can either pursue higher studies or apply for various jobs in public and private sector. If teaching is your passion you can do MSc Maths and Phd and opt for it at school and college levels.You can also go for higher studies like Master of Computer Application (MCA)or Master of Business Administration(MBA).                        To become a psychologist or counselor, one should preferably do a PhD. in psychology. At the Masters-level, students can specialize in subjects such as clinical psychology, counseling psychology, educational psychology and development psychology .After completing Plus Two, you should choose psychology for the degree course. Several universities and colleges offer three-year degree courses in psychology .In Kerala, the many colleges offer psychology at the degree level. Plus two students with any combination of subjects can apply. Admission will be made on the basis of merit in the qualifying examinations.

Job prospects :-
         
 To pursue the career of a psychologist, one should have a genuine desire to help other people resolve their mental or emotional problems. Clinical psychologists can find jobs in mental health hospitals and clinics and do private practice as consultant psychologists or counselors. Teaching and research are two avenues of employment for qualified psychologists. They can also work as counselors in schools and colleges to help students when they  face various challenges in their studies as well as in life.

           With the robust growth of media and entertainment, journalism has emerged as one of the most preferred career options.             A bachelor's degree or post-graduate degree in journalism/mass communication is required to pursue a career in journalism. There are a number of universities and institutes offering these courses. Minimum eligibility for a Bachelor's degree in journalism is 10+2 and for post-graduate degree courses a Bachelor's degree in journalism.Skills like photography, knowledge of basic software and shorthand will be valuable added advantages and knowledge of different languages would help immensely.To become a journalist, one should have an inquisitive outlook, will power, an aptitude for presenting information in an accurate, concise and effective manner, ability to organize one's thoughts and express oneself clearly, both orally and in writing. At the same time, a journalist has to be tactful, confident and organized while interviewing people from all walks of life.They must have the ability to sift relevant facts from the irrelevant. The ability to accept criticism and willingness to do considerable rewriting are also necessary. 

Job prospects:-

After completion of the course, you can find employment with newspapers, periodicals and magazines, central information service, Press Information Bureau, websites, AIR and TVchannels.Journalists can work as editors, reporters, columnists, correspondents, staff or freelance writers, photo-journalists, proof readers, news analysts, etc. in print (newspapers and magazines) and electronic (Radio, Television and Web) media.Those who pass these courses can seek employment in the print or electronic media or as Assistant Information Officer, Public Relations Officer and so on in the Public Relations Department and also join the Indian Information Service. Opportunities are also available in visual media and web portals too.Those with PhD or have cleared the National Eligibility Test for Lectureship (NET) can become lecturers in colleges or universities.

Options after plus two humanities
  • The different courses Social work, fine arts, film making, travel and tourism, Interior designing, journalism and various Bachelor of Arts ( BA) subjects can be chosen. Students who had opted for humanities for +2 can join defense forces as well. Now there is eligibility criteria for this. Boys can join defense forces after their +2, but for girls they have to complete their graduation first and then only they are eligible to join.

  • Mass communication can also be opted as career. There are various other opportunities too. You can become a Disco Jockey(DJ),or work at a FM radio station as a Radio Jockey(RJ).If have creativity and photography sense, you can become a photographer(wildlife).You can also be a journalist.

                           Which course should I choose after plus two? This is the most crucial and confusing question that disturbs young minds as well as their parents soon after their plus two exams .Most of them choose their higher studies option either due to their peer group influence or due to their parents or relatives opinion or merely going behind advertisements .But one thing most of you forget is what is your area of interest? Which course do you have to choose which leads to a career which explores your abilities and gives you mental satisfaction? While choosing a course the most important criteria you need to look in is your aptitude and skill in studying the course and its scope in the job market.
                  While you choose your subjects for plus two itself you must have had a rough idea about your career and have opted different streams like Commerce, Humanities and Science (Biology and Computer Science).Those who have opted Science stream will be having the maximum number of options as they are eligible for almost all the courses for which Commerce and Humanities group are eligible for. But humanities and Commerce stream students need not worry about this. They do have enormous courses which can lead to successful career.
Options after plus two Commerce
          Commerce students can opt B.Com with specializations like Computer application, co-operation, Tax Procedure and Practice, Travel and Tourism Management, Hotel Management and Catering etc. B.Com can be a stepping stone for further degrees like Chartered Accountant (CA), Company Secretary ship (CS) and Cost and Work Accountancy (ICWA).Chartered accountancy (CA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants is a  3 ½ to  5 year course. C.A has three levels.1. CPT (Common Proficiency Test) 2. IPCC (Integrated Professional Competence Course) 3. CA Final Exam. On clearing the 2nd level, one is required to serve three year training period as Article Clerk in an auditing firm or under a senior Auditor. After the final exam also there is one month Communication Training.

                   Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is another option. After BBA you can go for MBA (Master of Business Administration) which help you to become future Managers. You can specialise in various disciplines like Human Resource management, Marketing, Systems, Finance, Operations etc. Some Universities offer dual specialisation as well.

               Those who are interested in Law can join LLB integrated five year course soon after plus two. LLB is regulated by the Bar Council of India. The various career options are Civil Lawyer, Criminal lawyer, Legal Advisor, Judge, Government Lawyer, Legal Analyst etc. Those who have interest can choose hotel management and aviation courses.
