                    ACE promotes a  balanced platform for students to boost their gifts in sports and arts along with studies. The work of a world class sports complex for sports and games is in progress at ACE campus. When it is finished the students will get professional coaching in all the featured categories of athletics and games.The extra curricular and cultural talents of students are rightly nurtured by the college. Professional help will be given to students who wish to participate in University Youth Festivals. Achievements of ACE

International Robotics Challenge

             Now, I would like to share with you some of the remarkable achievements and efforts taken by the students of ACE College of Engineering.

            ACE successfully hosted International Robotics Challenge (IRC) Zonal Workshops IRC conducted by trained professionals from IIT Bombay.  Students from various schools and colleges had participated in the workshop.The workshop was mainly based on programming and control of AVIR micro controller. The introduction on robotics, in which history of robotics, artificial intelligence, applications of electro mechanical devices and other related issues were discussed. The students got a basic understanding of different concepts of robotics and how to program the brain (micro controller) of a robot. ACE College of Engineering had been selected for International Robotics Challenge (IRC) Zonal Workshop organised by Robotics Club  of  Electronics and Communication Department and Electrical and Electronics Department. Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation and application of robots. Today, robotics is a rapidly growing field.  

              The  contest was  held among the students in which a puzzle was given and they were asked to solve it with the line follower robot. Wireless robot kits were provided to the participants. Various teams from various colleges including teams from ACE also participated in the contest. A team from ACE completed the task in minimum time and they were directly selected by the training experts for competing in the robotics competition in IIT Bombay. This workshop was  an encouragement for all the students who participated in it. They are still exploring more ideas about robots and improving their creativity with the aid of new technology.

Orientation Program at ACE

              ACE college gives Orientation Program for both students and their parents during the commencement of the academic year. The Parents orientation program comprises of question-answer session as well.  The parent’s orientation program is committed to providing parents with the information necessary to help student’s successes in their studies. The parent’s orientation focuses on helping parents to better understand the college system and its rule. This builds a cordial relationship between the institution and the parent community.

                          A ‘Bridge course’ is arranged for the first year students which is handled by the faculties at ACE. This short term comprises of the concepts learnt by students at plus two level in Physics, Chemistry and Maths. This course helps the students to revise these concepts that will be helpful for them for higher studies in Engineering. 

Special Training to students

          Training has an important role in polishing the qualities in students and developing their skills.A good training session imparted by expert trainers refresh the young minds and builds up their confidence level.ACE realizes the importance of offering good training sessions to students.ACE has arranged special training for its students by veterans in this field ‘Career Launchers’, Trivandrum. In order to bring a systematic development in students the college offers training in periodic intervals. These training programs strengthen their capacity to bridge the gaps between theory and practice of their course. This will enable the students to acquaint with their workplaces soon after their studies.The two major areas in which training is given are personality development and stress management.

Personality development

          Personality plays a vital role in the success of a person both in work as well as life.A good personality is also essential to fetch a good job along with studies. The training programs on personality development try for the enhancement and grooming of students outer and inner self to bring about a positive change to his / her life.Training is given to develop listening,writing and speaking skills, body language,good manners, etiquette's etc.The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) assesses the English Language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as the language of communication. IELTS tests all four language skills- Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.Training is also given to develop the soft skills in students .They are also given coaching for IELTS.

Stress Management

         Stress management has an indispensable role in today's competitive world. Stress is psychological and physical unpreparedness that erupts in the completion of successful achievements. A stressed up mind is highly inaccessible in determining any successful venture. Students of an institution may be coming from different situations of life.  Their thinking, living style, behavior and attitude to life may be different. This may cause for stresses both mental and physical. As far as first year students are concerned till last year they were in a school atmosphere. But now they are in a professional college. This change in campus knowingly or unknowingly creates some stress in them.Training helps the students to weed out this negative feeling and transform it into positive qualities and makes them comfortable as well as confident to face the challenges in life.

         ACE  has separate girls and boys hostel facility with a  capacity  of 200 students each.Common facilities include study room, television room, indoor & outdoor games, Internet browsing, newspaper and magazines, separate dining hall, common telephone etc.Wardens are appointed by the college authorities to take care of the hostel activities.

Transportation

      The Transport division of ACE college provides transportation facility to students and staffs. Buses covers areas in and around Trivandrum District. This facility guarantees a hassle-free and safe transportation. The College has a fleet of buses plying to many different routes

It is likely to be the most widely held place on campus, not only for physical refreshment but also for student bonding, deliberations, discussions, and even work on assignments, course works and projects.

Library

        ACE has got a resourceful library with a lot of special features. It provides a great source of information, guidance, knowledge, entertainment, curiosity etc. for students, faculties, researchers and all others who utilises it. ACE library provides almost all the books suggested in the syllabus for various subjects in engineering with sufficient number of copies to ensure its availability to all of them who needs it in the Reference Section as well as in Stock Section. The library at ACE provides various publications and e-journals as well. The library is provided with international knowledge centres through high speed data line. The library has all IEEE journals and several National & International journals. The library provides services like lending of books and journals, advance booking of books, Xerox, Internet facilities and CD/DVD etc. The library is also a rich source of various news papers, general interesting books that motivates students and inculcate reading habits in them. The library also provides various books suitable for students preparing for various competitive exams. Arrangements are also done in the library for students to write assignments and to study referring various books in a calm and peaceful atmosphere.

Civil Engineering branch

           Civil Engineering branch at ACE college of Engineering has a lot of specialties that is worth mentioning. Civil Engineering labs are well equipped and technologically up-to-date. Most modern and highly sophisticated equipments are used in their second year Survey lab and Structural lab that is above par with the university standards. It helps the students to get a better idea of the various industry related equipments. Apart from the theory and practical classes handled by experienced faculties, guest faculties and eminent personalities who have established their names in Civil Engineering also deliver sessions for the students and give them valuable insight about the subject and keep the students abreast of current market conditions. The college also organize industrial visits for its students gain even more exposure.

An Aeronautical engineering degree helps to transform the concepts into reality by applying the principles of science and technology to research design, maintenance and manufacturing of sophisticated products such as aircrafts, missiles and space satellites.ACE college of engineering has got a well equipped Aeronautical lab with world class facilities that enable the students of this branch a strong platform for understanding the practical version of aeronautical science that they have learned in the theory classes. Eminent faculties with vast experience in the subject teach as well as assist them in their new ventures related to this branch. Once the students become well versed with the basics of the subject, they will possess the capability to put into reality the various creative ideas they develop in aeronautical science and excel in it.ACE  aeronautical lab has maclab with various CAD/CAM/CAE  software with latest configuration.ACE College of Engineering has got its own Aero modelling club under the science club of the college.ACE has set up an aerodynamics lab with an industry oriented wind tunnel with a Test section size of 600*600*2000mm.This exposure the students get at ACE moulds them to be the right candidates for getting hired by the leading aeronautical companies with the support of ACE. 

Electrical and Electronics Engineering

                         The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of ACE College of Engineering has a well-equipped and sophisticated Machines lab for second and third year students wherein the students get a good exposure to the latest high power AC and DC machines. The students of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is trained for two main disciplines – Communication and Power. In Communication area they are trained for handling various Instruments, Control Systems, Data acquisition, Design and various accessories. While in Powers systems, students deal with the Power generation, transmission and distribution, static and rotating design, drivers, consulting etc. The high voltage lab of ACE College of Engineering is well equipped with High end software. It helps the students to have a good knowledge in Power systems with the help of well experienced faculties which in turn helps the students to develop new ideas in the field of Electrical Engineering.
